As a true bookworm I get excited when my favourite books are turned into movies, but I am often disappointed.

I still remember the first time I went to see the first Harry Potter movie. I was so excited. I had already read the first four books, I was a huge fan, and I couldn’t wait to see it on the big screen. I liked it, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t what I expected because, in my silly head, there would have been all the scenes from the book without thinking that the movie couldn’t be 20 hours long. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and I watch it every time they run it on TV.

I loved the Twilight saga until I saw the first movie (watching the first one was enough for me). I didn’t like the main actors who somehow managed to ruin even the books and since then I have stopped reading it.

As a huge Jane Austen fan, I have watched all the adaptations of her novels, although I still haven’t seen Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy (it’s on my list of movies to watch).

There are have been a couple of cases in which I watched first the movie and then read the book. For example, the series Divergent by Veronica Roth: I watched the three movies, I adored them and then I read the books. This was a case in which the movie perfectly reflected the book and I liked the movie even a little more than the book.

More and more books are being turned into movies and TV series and I like watching the characters I meet on the pages come to life on the screen. I am not always happy with the choices, but I still enjoy them.
