Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo Il museo delle ombre segrete. Nel museo di Norfolk tutto è pronto per l’apertura di una tomba, ma è il corpo del custode trovato vicino alla tomba che fa la prima pagina dei giornali.

I am a huge fan of Elly Griffiths novels. Her stand-alone novel, The Stranger Diary, is one of my favourite books, but her Dr. Galloway novels is what I look forward every year, so today I am going to talk to you about the first novel of this series I picked up (although it’s the fourth in the series). Dr. Ruth Galloway is an anthropologist who often collaborates with the police. When the body of the curator of a museum is found dead, she is called to help. In the meantime, she’s also to deal with her feelings for the man at the head of the investigation DCI Harry Nelson, a married man who also happens to be the father of her one-year-old daughter.

What I love most about this series are the characters. They are brilliant. Ruth and Nelson’s relationship is very complicated, sometimes it’s like watching a soap opera, but I love it. They are surrounded by a cast of fantastic characters, but my favourite is Cathbad, a druid who, with his spiritual beliefs and stories, makes the novel very entertaining. Of course, there are twists and the suspense is very high. I highly recommend this series, but you should probably start from the first book (although it can be easily read as a stand-alone).
