Lisa Unger should be on the list of all crime lovers out there. Her novels are addictive, suspenseful, and original and once I start reading, I can’t stop.
The protagonist of her latest novel is Rain Winter, a journalist who left her job to become a stay-at-home mother. Rain is not who she claims to be. An event from her past that left her full of guilt still haunts her and when someone starts to killing guilty men who managed to avoid prison, she decides to go back to work and start her own investigation.
Her stories are not light or easy to read. They are thought-provoking, claustrophobic, dark and the themes she addresses are a bit disturbing. However, her characters are complex and well-crafted and her plots are well-crafted and gripping. Always a must-read!
