Can the famous Belgian detective solve a twelve-year-old case? He thinks he can. Twelve years ago, a husband and wife were found both shot, both fingerprints on the gun found between them. Did he shoot her and then killed himself? Or did she shoot him and then she killed herself? Or there was a third person that killed them both? The police never figured it out, but now, during a literary event, author Ariadne Oliver is asked to investigate as she knew the couple and she is their daughter’s godmother. She asks for the help of her friend Hercule Poirot, but finding out the truth is not easy when witnesses and people involved back then are either death or scattered around. But Hercule Poirot is determined to find out what really happened…
I always enjoy when the wonderful Ariadne Oliver makes an appearance in Agatha Christie’s novels. She is an interesting, entertaining, and creative character, a fantastic match to Poirot character. The story is suspenseful and character-driven and, strangely enough, I figured out most of the truth before it was revealed, but there were still a few surprises waiting for me!!!
