Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo La paziente silenziosa, questo thriller d’esordio vi terrà completamente incollati alla pagina e con un finale a sorpresa che non vedrete arrivare. Assolutamente un romanzo da non perdere!

This is definitely the book of the year, one of the best debut ever. It’s the story of Alicia Berenson, a famous painter happily married to a photographer. Then, one night she is found standing next to his body, covered in his blood. From that point, Alicia never says a word and she is sent to a psychiatric facility.

Theo Faber is a forensic psychiatrist and he wants to solve Alicia’s mystery, he wants her to talk. He finds a job at the Grove, the mental institution where Alicia is staying, and he becomes her new therapist. But why does Theo want to take care of Alicia? Why did Alicia kill her husband? And why is she not talking anymore?

The novel is full of puzzles that, as much as I tried, I couldn’t figure out. Both Theo and Alicia are a mystery and, as the truth is revealed at the end, I was completely shocked because I really didn’t see it coming. The novel is slow-paced and masterfully-plotted with such an unbelievable and unexpected ending that I had to read it twice just to be sure.

The Silent Patient is one of the books to read in 2019… A gripping, twisty, and stunning debut that you won’t forget.
