Non ancora pubblicato in Italia. Una giovane donna nella Londra dell’Ottocento racconta nel suo diario le sue giornate, le sue avventure, e gli eccentrici personaggi che incontra.

So far, I’ve read only the first two volumes of this fantastic series (there are 8 volumes in total) and I enjoyed them immensely. Set in 1883, it sees twenty-year old Emma M. Lion taking possession of Lapis Lazuli House, in the London neighbourhood of St. Crispian’s, after three miserable years as a lady’s companion.
Narrated in the form of a journal, we see Emma taking possession of her inheritance, even if it comes with the odious cousin Archibald, facing the London season under the watchful eyes of her aunt Eugenia, sharing a wall and a cat with her tenant, and rescuing a beloved Jane Eyre edition from her former school.
I loved the character of Emma who is honest and witty. Her entries are funny, emotional, and immersive and I read through the first two volumes quickly, eager to see what would happen next in Emma’s life, which is never boring. I can’t wait to read all the books in the series!
