Last year, I randomly picked up a copy of The Echo Killing, the first book of this amazing novel, and I completely found myself immersed in it. Since then, I have been waiting for the second book in the series and finally here it is.
The protagonist of the series is Harper McClain, a young reporter living in Savannah. Her mother was killed when she was twelve years old and her murder was never solved, something that still haunts Harper. After the events of the first book, the Savannah police, who she once considered her family, is shutting her out making it difficult for her to do her job. Now she gets involved in the murder of a young woman who used to work in the same bar as her best friend. Things get more complicated for Harper when she finds out that one of the detective in charge of the case is none other than Luke, her ex boyfriend for whom she still has feelings.
I loved loved this second book and I am already looking forward to book number 3. Beside the case of the young woman who’s been murdered, Harper has to deal with her unsolved relationship with Luke, someone who’s breaking into her house and her car to leave her threatening notes, and her mother’s murder still unsolved. Once again, Christi Daugherty kept me completely hooked and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
