Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo Peter Wimsey e il cadavere sconosciuto. Il primo avvincente mistero di Lord Peter Wimsey mentre investiga l’apparizione di un cadavere nel bagno di un architetto.
First published in 1923, Whose Body? is the first book in the Lord Peter Wimsey mystery and it introduces us to its protagonist. The second son of the Duke Denver, Lord Peter enjoys solving mysteries as an amateur detective, with the help of his valet, Bunter, and police detective Charles Parker. He also enjoys music and collecting incunabula (early printed books).
In Whose Body?, Lord Peter takes on a case encouraged by his headstrong and intelligent mother, the Dowager Duchess of Denver. An architect finds the body of an unknown man in his bathtub. He has no idea how the body ended up there, but Inspector Sugg is convinced of his guilt.
On the other hand, Peter starts suspecting that this murder is linked to the disappearance of a wealthy financier.
Whose Body? is an intriguing and entertaining read. Lord Peter is witty and smart and he is surrounded by a cast of interesting characters. The mystery was suspenseful and well-developed and I can’t wait to read more Lord Peter investigations.
