I blame Bridgerton for my sudden interest in historical romance. And I blame Instagram for getting me addicted to the A League of Extraordinary Women series by Evie Dunmore. I kept seeing these books everywhere on my timeline, so I finally decided to give it a try and I wasn’t disappointed. So far, there are three books in the series, with a fourth coming in Autumn. Each book has a different protagonist and it can be easily read as a stand-alone.
The protagonist of the first book is Annabelle Archer, the daughter of a vicar living with her relatives. Annabelle is smart and well-read so when she gets a place at Oxford she jumps at the chance.

However, she can’t pay the tuition, so she receives a scholarship in exchange for her support to the women’s suffragist movement. Her job is to convince powerful men to support the movement and one of these men is the Duke of Montgomery, one of the Queen’s favourites. It won’t be easy to convince him, especially as he is cold and stubborn, but, as they spend time together, sparkles begin to fly and maybe his cold heart can be thawed.
I really enjoyed this novel. It is witty, addictive, and sexy, with likable and entertaining characters. I especially liked the women who are strong, smart, and determined to have their rights. Highly recommended!
