Former actress Arlena Marshall is loved by men and hated by women. Men can’t help being drawn to her, while women are jealous of her, especially when she turns her attention to their husbands. The Belgian detective Hercule Poirot is on holiday at Leathercombe Bay and he witnesses first hand Arlena’s personality. However, when she is found dead on the beach, murdered, he agrees to help the local police to find the killer. The list of suspects includes Arlena’s husband, who regretted marrying her, her stepdaughter, who hated her, the woman who clearly has feelings for her husband, the man Arlena was supposedly having an affair with and his wife. But everyone of them seems to have an alibi…
The story is suspenseful and full of twists and turns. Everyone had a motive to kill her, but also an alibi. So, who is the killer? Of course, Hercule Poirot can figure it out. I, however, was very far from the truth and that’s what makes me love the novels by Agatha Christie so much. Nothing is what it seems!
