Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo Alla deriva. Un’eredità e una famiglia in guerra per averla nel nuovo mistero di Hercule Poirot.

For years, the Cloade family has relied on their wealthy family member, Gordon, to provide for them, both in life and in death. However, following his unexpected death during the London Blitz, the family discovered that he didn’t update his will after his second marriage and the entire inheritance goes to his young widow, Rosaleen, and her brother. But if Rosaleen’s first husband turns out to be alive, her marriage to Gordon would not be valid, so the family asks Hercule Poirot for assistance, but when people start dying, it is clear that there is much more at stake.

There is a lot to keep you engrossed in this novel. Mystery, family drama, and a bit of romance, but then I got to the ending and that left me quite baffled. I can’t say much about it to not spoil it, but it was not at all the ending that I expected and I am still confused about it. It didn’t spoil the reading experience of the story, which I found suspenseful and intriguing, but I think it was unnecessary and wrong. All in all, I enjoyed this novel, just leave out the last few pages…
