Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo di Giochi di prestigio. Una misteriosa villa vittoriana, un tentato omicidio, e un vero omicidio. Per fortuna, Miss Marple è sulla scena.
How not to begin the New Year but with an Agatha Christie novel? My reading of all novels by the Queen of Crime continues in the New Year with another Miss Marple novel. In They Do It With Mirrors, the elderly woman with the sharpest mind in England meets with an old friend who is worried about her sister. To help her friend, Miss Marple visits the sister and she is welcomed in a huge Victorian mansion turned into a rehabilitation centre for delinquents. Between the reformed criminals, psychologists, philanthropists, children, stepchildren, and grandchildren, the house is filled with a sense of dread and danger. And when one of the patients attempts to kill the administrator of the institute, things turn even darker. And then someone is killed. But who is the killer? One of the many criminals or a member of the family? And who is going to be next? Luckily, Miss Marple is already on the case…
Agatha Christie continues to amaze me with her brilliant and gripping novels. This is another case of a full cast of suspects and the culprit is the one I never suspected it in the first place. Suspenseful and well-developed, it shows once again how brilliant the mind of Agatha Christie is.
