Non ancora pubblicato in Italia. La storia dei primi diciotto anni di vita di 18 personaggi che hanno avuto un impatto sulla storia inglese, raccontata in modo accattivante e eccitante.

I enjoy watching Alice Loxton’s historical videos on Instagram and I get completely engrossed in her books. Last year, I loved Uproar, a history of satire in Georgian Britain, and now she is back with Eighteen “a snapshot of Britain through the eighteen-years-old who have sculpted.”.
Starting with the Venerable Bede and then passing from the fascinating first years of the life of the Empress Matilda to the childhood years of upheaval that prepared Princess Elizabeth to become a great Queen of England; from Sarah Bissen who was born without arms and legs and became a successful painter in the XIX century to doctor, surgeon and suffragette Elsie Inglis who founded the Scottish Women’s Hospital; Alice Loxton explores the lives of eighteen young people who had an impact in history. Not only she talks about their lives and their achievements, but she also organizes the book like a dinner party that I would love to take part in. HIghly recommended!
