Pubblicato in Italia con il titolo La legge dell’innocenza. Una storia piena di colpi di scena che vede un avvocato accusato di omicidio costretto a difendere se stesso.
This is not my first novel by Michael Connelly. I have read a few books in the Harry Bosch series and in the Jack McEvoy series, which I really enjoyed, but this is my first book in the Mickey Haller series and I have to admit that it is also my favourite so far.
Mickey Haller is a lawyer, better known as the Lincoln Lawyer because he mostly works from his Lincoln car. He is really good at his job and he wins most of cases, but now he is the one accused of homicide after a body has been found in the trunk of his car. He knows that he shouldn’t represent himself, but he also knows that he and his team are his best chance to prove his innocence, so he starts investing on his own.
This is such a twisty and incredible novel. I loved the characters (we also see a few appearances from Harry Bosch), especially the protagonist Mickey Haller. He is a very interesting character, smart and assertive and I am really looking forward to read more of his novels.
The story is set pre-covid, with the virus just starting to make his appearance so it feels very timely and authentic as people slowly realize how serious the situation it is.
If you are looking for a gripping and terrific legal thriller, then this is it!
