I bought the book as soon as it came out because Michelle Obama is one of the women I admire most. I found myself completely immersed from the first page of this captivating memoir. Starting from her childhood in the Southside of Chicago, Michelle Obama talks about her family of four living in a small flat, about studying hard at school and getting into Princeton where she studied harder so that she could go and study law at Harvard and then going back to Chicago where she found a job in corporate law. She talks about the first time she met the man who would then become her husband and the 44th President of the United States. Their marriage, their daughters, and his decision to run for President, Michelle Obama doesn’t leave anything out.
The book is personal, inspiring, honest, and compelling. Michelle Obama takes the reader right into her world and I found myself admiring her more and more as she advocates for women all around the world, as she works hard to make life easier for soldiers, veterans, and their families, as she tries to convince people to live a healthier life. Becoming is an insightful and addictive read and I highly recommend it!
