However, the children are spoiled, the parents leave her alone one day after she arrived, and at night there are rumours coming from the floor above her room, except there is no floor above her room. Despite all this, Rowan is determined to succeed in her job, but day after day things get darker and more complicated…
This novel gave me the chills. Imagine it’s night, you are alone (with just four sleeping children for company), and you hear strange noise in a remote house far away from any form of civilization or human contact. It’s the perfect setting for a horror movie. And I loved it…. The tension is always high and the surprises keep coming. The final revelation was completely unexpected and I couldn’t stop reading. The perfect reading for all new and old fans of Ruth Ware out there!
