I was about fifteen years old the first time I read a Sophie Kinsella’s novel and it was thanks to her fantastic heroine Becky Bloomwood that she became one of my favorite authors and I have read all her books.
The Secret Dreamworld of a Shophaolic is the first book in the Shopaholic series (so far 9 books have been published) and we are introduced to Becky Bloomwood, who loves nothing more than to buy… everything: clothes, shoes, bags, office supplies to inspire her to write a book, kitchen supplies… The problem is that, despite being a financial journalist, she is not able to manage her money and she is in huge debt.
I love this series and its protagonist so much. She is smart, determined, funny and she finds herself in the most hilarious and absurd situations. Addictive, witty, and entertaining, this is the perfect novel – and series – for lovers of romcom and shopping!
