One of the best places to go in Rizal is the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs. Declared as a National Cultural Treasure and considered as one of the most endangered sites in the world, Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs in Binangonan, Rizal province houses some of the oldest known artwork in the Philippines. You can find a total of 127 engraved figures that date back to the late Neolithic period in the rear recesses of the cave while the fascinating rock engravings will give you a glimpse of how our early ancestors once lived. It was the National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco, a Rizaleño, who reported to the National Museum of the Philippines that he found early forms of artwork that were later found out that these prehistoric rock inscriptions date as far back as 1500 BC and are believed to depict rituals from the late Neolithic Period. This Rizal tourist spot is definitely a must-visit.
