President Rodrigo Duterte will be calling for a special meeting to discuss the developments in Europe amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
During his taped public address aired on Tuesday morning, President Duterte said he will meet with law enforcement authorities, business groups, and select members of the Cabinet.
“I will be calling for a special meeting. We will discuss about what is evolving or what is happening in Europe, he said.
“The invitation is for all so we can have an exchange of ideas with a sensible front on how to handle these things,” as he added.
The president said Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles has been designated as the “sole spokesman” for the event.
In a press briefing, Cabinet Secretary Nograles said the meeting will be held later Tuesday but he did not say whether it would be televised or conducted privately.
“As the President said on Tuesday in his Talk to the People address that he would call a meeting, including with various officials of the government, including high-ranking officials of the AFP, the Philippine National Police, and select Cabinet officials to discuss the situation in Ukraine,” he said.
“Let’s just look at what the developments will be at the meeting. Whether there is a statement, or there will be updates, we will also share with the public after the meeting,” as he added.
